The Wilbur Ads case study
What it is
Writing ad copy for eight platforms means eight sets of character limits, formats, and unwritten rules — and most small teams either pay an agency or ship something generic. Wilbur Ads turned any landing page URL into a full, platform-ready ad suite in about a minute, fronted by a pig with strong opinions about your hooks. It ran as a live SaaS with real customers, real billing, and real publishing pipelines.
What I built
The generation engine
Paste a URL and Wilbur scraped the page, extracted the value proposition, and streamed back 30+ platform-optimized ad variations for Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, YouTube, and Pinterest — each inside real character limits, with a scored hook preview available before signup.
One-click publishing
Full OAuth integrations with Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads, and TikTok. Users connected their ad accounts, verified credentials, and pushed generated campaigns live without leaving the app — including a bring-your-own-keys mode.
AI ad images
Async image generation via fal.ai matched each ad's angle, with results stored in Vercel Blob and attached to the saved generation.
Auth and dashboard
Supabase authentication with auto-confirm onboarding, a saved-generation dashboard with full history and regeneration, plus an admin panel with audit logging.
Billing
Stripe end to end: one-time purchases, monthly subscriptions with a free trial, webhook-driven entitlements, and session verification.
Automations and API
Per-user webhooks with test delivery for Zapier and Make pipelines, and a public v1 generate API for programmatic ad creation.
Transactional email
Resend with React Email templates — welcome sequences and full ad suites delivered straight to the inbox.
Growth plumbing
A/B variant tracking, a live ads-generated counter, hook scoring, exit-intent capture, and a Wilbur chat persona built on the AI SDK.
